• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 1/3 cup water
• 1 lemon
• 4 cloves
• Pinch of nutmeg
• 1 cup rum

Place the sugar and water in a saucepan. Cut the lemon into thin slices, and add it along with the cloves and nutmeg. Bring to a simmer and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add the rum and heat until the mixture is piping hot. Serve immediately in heated mugs.
